one thing i still simply do not understand around here is why people rate the way they do.

i admit i don't always rate when i view a profile and to be honest that is for a few different reasons.

obviously the first is if i were to rate what i honestly think would be a basic fair rate for the way the profile is, odds are i would end up with an exact rate, or even lower in return.

however, even then, i don't like the basic rating system. how am i to know how difficult it was for any certain person to create their own profile? i mean, if you take someone who has zero knowledge on any of the normal html commands and takes hours upon hours typing, searching, reading and creating their profile, which then turns out very basic but is easy to read, says what they want it to say and end up with a low rate, i can understand their own..... reaction/anger to a low rate and "return the favor". then take someone who has years upon years of html experience and make something .... bland, impersonal, difficult to read or even something just plain ugly (which is just a personal point of view). why should the previous person get a lower rating? honestly they shouldn't. but with the way the rating system works, and the reactions people give is pathetic.

(obviously this type of reaction is not typical of everyone, but for it is for a good number here)

i do not "downrate" in my opinion that is childish and immature. with that coming from me, that is a pretty low blow. i am far from a mature person, i will admit that. but i see no reason to downrate someone. other than trying to "lowball" them because i felt their rating was unjust. i see no reason for it. unless of course the person is just a b**** or an a******.

i spend way too much time of thinking that maybe i should just give in and do what most do and give everyone a ten rating. which i may end up doing just to avoid the BS drama involved in the rating system here. but i try to rate fairly, but how truly fair is it when i personally do not know how much effort someone puts into their profile? for some its just a few clicks and theyre done with something worth looking at and reading. while for others it is hours just trying to get the simplest form up while keeping it entertaining to read and see.

i admit i have one other temptation on the rating system here.

just unsure if i want to risk the drama that will come with it. rate as fairly as possible, and where possible, make a comment with a statement saying why their rating is what it is. examples of what i would do to improve it (obviously in my point of view) basicly try to give constructive criticism. but i can see that being a real pain and drawing in a lot of unwanted drama and rate lowballing.

i want honest rates on my profile. honestly tell me what it is i could do to improve mine. what caused someone to rate mine what they did.



i just don't get the rating system here.... i really dont...
